Support

OUR WAITING LISTS FOR UNDER 16’S SUPPORT & SUPPORT FOR MENTAL HEALTH DIFFICULTIES ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED

Whether your discovery was made with us, via another service, or you have self identified rather than going down the formal assessment route, you are most welcome.

Our team will explore what works best for you. For example, with online work, asking whether you need cameras on or off and in person checking what lighting levels work best for you. If you need to move round or take breaks, that is fine with us. Do let us know what accommodations would make the sessions work for you.

  • Under 16s support

OUR WAITING LIST FOR THIS IS CURRENTLY CLOSED.

If you have recently discovered that your child is autistic and you or they need help ‘settling-in’ to their diagnosis we can offer specialist support with one of our psychologists.

It's quite normal to have a real mixture of feelings including worry, relief, confusion and excitement after discovering that your child is autistic or neurodivergent. People often want to process that information and review ‘life after discovery’ and reflect on the support they already give their child and how else they may be able to help them. It’s quite normal to feel overwhelmed about ‘what’s next’. Being able to sit and reflect on what being autistic means your child and for you as their parent, is an incredibly important part of the post-discovery process.

  • Support for Mental Health Difficulties

OUR WAITING LIST FOR THIS IS CURRENTLY CLOSED.

Many people experience mental health difficulties during their lives. Our psychologists offer therapy for neurodivergent people who have additional mental health needs including anxiety, obsessional thoughts and compulsive behaviours, low mood and depression.

There are many different approaches to (or models of) therapy. Our team use a variety to inform their work with you including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and EMDR. All of the work we do is adapted to meet the needs of neurodivergent people and we work in collaboration with you to ensure we use the ‘best fit’ for you personally. We follow the latest research, professional guidelines and, importantly, neurodivergent advocates to ensure our approach meets your needs.

  • Psychotherapy (18 years and over)

Helen offers online integrative, humanistic psychotherapy tailored to neurodivergent people. There may be many different reasons that bring people to therapy – to explore and manage difficult feelings, to find better ways of coping with life, to make sense of experiences and relationships, past or present.

Through psychotherapy, self-awareness and self-knowledge develop, self- acceptance grows and people consolidate an ability to know what they need and advocate for themselves.

Psychotherapy is a free-flowing, exploratory approach. The therapist becomes your curious and open-minded companion, guiding and assisting you on your path, offering new perspectives and understanding. It is a collaborative approach open to developing a shared way of working together – there are no questions or topics that can’t be discussed. The therapist does not give advice or strategies, instead any practical ideas grow out of the work together, as you explore your own individual experience, preferences and values. This approach does not have ‘homework’ or paperwork generated from sessions and unless you raise something that you wish to do outside of our session times, there will be no pressure to ‘change’.
